The shell of the repurposed Carousel of Progress from out last visit to Disneyland.

May 11, 2008: Carousel of Progress

One of my favorite things at Disney theme parks is the Carousel of Progress, Walt Disney developed the attraction for the 1964 world’s fair (where I saw it first). The ride started in 1900 and showed inventions in every generation… electricity, automobiles, telephones, refrigeration, phonograph, radio, television, etc.

Tomorrow morning I am attending a memorial service for Jenn’s grandmother who passed away at the age of 98. One of the visiting family reminisced that they once rode the Carousel of Progress with “Granny” and she remarked that she remembered all of it. What amazing changes she saw in a lifetime… truly hard to imagine.

(The Carousel of Progress was removed from Disneyland but according to this site it remains in Orlando.)

May 9, 2008: Things I hate

Switches on the back of clocks that turn on alarms. We have a clock in the living room that has an alarm on it (who knew) that apparently got activated by the cleaning people. All of this was discovered at 3am. Accident or cruel cleaning people humor? I’ll leave you to decide… I’m too tired.
